Introducing the “Stepping High” collection, as this season Gene Marshall and Madra Lord star together in Monolithic Studio’s biggest backstage musical ever. In tribute to the fashion follies of Hollywood hocus-pocus, we bring you a veritable chorus line of choices for our girls as they tap their way into your hearts and their stunning new wardrobe choices. This trio of takes on Gene and Madra include a colorful array of stylishly brief tap pants and tops as the obvious choice for rehearsals, leaving to you the more complicated decision of who gets to wear what. To that end we proudly present for the first time this fall the first three selections from “The Studio Wardrobe Department’ guaranteed to look great on either of our stars. So join the chorus of admirers and make an effort to play nice. Whether Gene and Madra can share from “The Studio Wardrobe Department” is strictly up to you!

Introducing the STUDIO WARDROBE DEPARTMENT

Introducing a new fashion feature in the world of Gene Marshall and her friends, “The Studio Wardrobe Department”. At Monolithic, as well as the other major studios, the wardrobe department was the hub of the back lot where stars came and went and “borrowed” clothes for special events and gala openings. A wardrobe mistress’s job was to keep the players looking polished at all times and worthy of the term “Star”. Here is your chance to fill that position with our first three selections from the Studio Wardrobe Department, complete outfits, from hats to shoes, guaranteed to look fabulous on either of our ladies. Remember, these outfits are just on loan and it’s your job to remind Madra of that. Good luck!

92032	There’s something about a well-tailored woolen suit that speaks of stability, of wood-paneled station wagons and a well-padded bank account. Town and Country not only proclaims this in spades, but throws in a little daring style, some sleek proportions and the good breeding of fabrics, cut and perfectly realized. A pencil-thin, umber skirt is topped with a matching jacket, sporting a broadly collared, notched neckline and contrasting white buttons over a pleated peplum. A sumptuous ‘fox’ hat is banded in wool, trimmed in ‘leather’ and companion to a luxurious muff of matching ‘fur’. The accessories are of course, only the best. Double strapped and buckled brown ‘leather’ pumps are the shoe of choice and crisp white gloves and button earbobs complete this sporty ensemble. 92033	Rendez-Vous is a sleek cocktail ensemble featuring the allure and illusion of lace over satin. A sweetheart neckline bodice of pale violet satin is revealed beneath the fitted, long-sleeved top of midnight blue lace. A narrow, just below the knee length skirt of midnight satin comes to the point in a high, fitted waistline and is accentuated by an open, draped overskirt of matching lace over tulle. The accessories include a floral-trimmed turban of lavender satin, wrapped in deep blue lace. The jewels are ‘diamond’ drops at the ears and a double-strand ‘diamond’ bracelet at the wrist. The purse is a small clutch in midnight satin and matches the ‘patent leather’, open-toed sandals. It would be hard for one to keep a rendezvous secret if one is dressed for it as daringly as this. 92012	Starburst is a deceptively simple caramel and cream-colored frock, designed to be worn from day into the cocktail hour. The bodice consists of a sheer over-blouse, striped and spangled in a repeating pattern of satin petals, banded in matching satin ribbon on the short sleeves and portrait neckline. Beneath this spun-sugar top is a slender cream-colored sheath, belted in gold buckled ecru “patent leather.” The Starburst surprise comes in the form of a full sheer overskirt of the matching patterned fabric, self-banded at the waist and designed to be worn over the narrow sheath. The transparency allows for the creamy tones of the underskirt to shine through and transform Starburst from a chic day dress into a stunning cocktail look.
