It's a cinch to look smart when you have as many things going for you as Gene does in this sensational black satin dress. Puffed bell sleeves tapering to a fitted ¾-length cuff just below the elbow echo the blouson bodice and taper to a tiny belted waist, atop the trim skirt. The real action is the killer choirboy neckline, featuring three matching buttons that fasten up to a full, pussycat bow at the throat. These stylish kitty's ears are tailored in emerald green felt and worn at an angle atop Gene's chapeau du jour. The cat theme continues with a handbag of stencilled leopard in an exaggerated print. Wrapped ankle ties on the black, sling back pumps and matching, elbow length gloves are the finishing touches on this city kitty's sleek look. Knockout emeralds set in gold at the ears match the hat and proclaim Gene the queen of the urban jungle for the day. Her honey blond hairstyle is a tight, braded bun in the back and a sculpted roll from the crown to the forehead. Pale grey brows and eye shadow and a vivid red mouth are the classic Gene Marshall look for being looked at. 'It's a Cinch' when you're Gene." |

![]() The Silhouette Collection Introduction The fashionable silhouette of any decade isn't necessarily the way everyone always dressed in that period, but rather the way we remember them as having dressed- the dominant style. It's the visual record of history, commerce and society, combined into the image of what a majority of the population wished to present itself as being. In the 1940s, all women didn't wear enormous shoulder pads and ankle-strap shoes, but enough actresses in Hollywood did to establish that as the style we associate with the 1940s. In the 1920s, all young girls were not flappers with beaded dresses and bobbed hair, but the most poignant image of that era is of young women who dared society's wrath (and risked pneumonia) by assuming the fashionable role of provocateur. Our Basics collection this season is about the phenomenon of a single silhouette representing a decade's ten years of fashion. It is an overview, a valentine to each period's most memorable and ultimately democratic statement of style. |

| 2087 | Liquorice CrushMadra Lord® Dressed Doll Madra Lord has never been one for subtleties, like her hair-color in 'Liquorice Crush' for instance. This bright flame red hairstyle with bangs and short flip was her public reaction to signing for the Technicolor extravaganza of the same name. Her favorite costumer at the studio was brave enough to suggest that when she signs the contract for the publicity cameras, she wear this black cocktail dress as her attire. The fitted taffeta bodice and (way) off the shoulder neckline, coupled with a two-strand 'diamond' necklace, offers the camera only the ravishing face of Madra Lord for closeups. At the same time, the elaborately ruched, full skirt was unique enough to guarantee at least one long shot for the reel. The fuchsia gloves were Madra's idea, as a way of making sure her 'gorgeous arms' were a focus of the colorful occasion. And not so miraculously, it all came together beautifully, as an outfit suitable for a star's event. From her flaming tresses down to her black patent leather pumps, with 'diamonds' flashing at her ears and throat, Madra Lord looked every inch the stylish star. |

| 92088 | Wrap PartyZita Charles™ Dressed Doll An outfit for only the most glamorous of evenings at home is 'Wrap Party'. A full length, olive green crepe gown is the starting point. Put over it a chartreuse sequined jacket, with short sleeves and a fitted waist. Then add a 'mile long' two-toned sash in celadon and salmon satin, tied at the waist. Put these tones and textures together and you have a sumptuous ensemble that Zita Charles would wear. Redheaded Zita wears her hair parted and pulled back into curls for this party. Her jewels are gold cuffs at her wrists and peridot earrings. Beneath the floor-length skirt are olive green, closed toe sandals. |

| 92089 | Sunset SerenadeViolet Waters® Dressed Doll 'Sunset Serenade' was the headline above the photo of Violet Waters wearing this dazzling burnt-orange evening suit. The caption referred to the music that evening, but could have as easily described the star's attire. Violet's polished ensemble features a jacket with short sleeves and a full, stand-up shawl collar. An elegantly sculpted peplum is accented at the waist with a fringed sash above the narrow skirt. Gold and cream brocade opera length gloves are worn pushed up to the cuffs of the short sleeves and a matching gold brocade evening hat is veiled and accented with a burnt orange bow. Violet's hairstyle is a pile of sable curls atop her head and shoes are gold 'leather' open-toed pumps. Her jewelry includes chandelier earrings and a golden cuff. |

| 92091 | Glammed Up Ivy "Vee J." Jordan® Dressed Doll 'Glammed up' was the term Ivy Jordan used to describe her appearance for the premiere that evening. Her hair had been dyed pale blond for a role she was filming and she had the studio hairstylist sweep it up into lovely rolls at the crown. Her red satin evening gown claimed a daringly draped décolleté atop a narrow skirt exploding into a deep pink taffeta overskirt and train. Ivy's jewelry that night consisted of a ruby necklace with matching earrings and bracelet and it was noted by more than one person that the jewels being worn sparkled no more than the star wearing them. Pink opera length gloves and strapped, red patent sandals complete Ivy's Cinderella story. |
